Asbury Outpouring Documentary Series

Documenting a Historic Move of God

The Project

In February 2023, a small chapel gathering at Asbury University became the center of a spontaneous 16-day outpouring of prayer, worship, repentance, and surrender that drew Christians from around the world.

What became known as the Asbury Outpouring deeply impacted the global Church and stirred spiritual hunger across generations, denominations, and nations.

Just one week after the gathering concluded, Setter Studios was invited to Kentucky to begin documenting the testimonies and reflections of those who experienced it firsthand. Although there are other documentaries about this event, we were the only documentary filmmakers invited directly by the Asbury team to capture the authentic movement and people involved in what happened.

Over the course of production, we captured nearly 30 interviews across multiple locations including Kentucky, Texas, and London, helping create a 10-part documentary series designed to carefully chronicle and preserve what took place during those remarkable days.

This project eventually became the series now available for free through Awakening Library.

Our Heart Behind the Project

From the very beginning, the goal of this series was never to sensationalize or attempt to manufacture a formula for revival. Instead, the heart was simply to document faithfully and honestly what people encountered and experienced.

Not prescriptive, Descriptive... To preserve stories, to record testimonies, to create space for reflection, and to point back to Jesus.

As filmmakers and believers, this became one of the most meaningful projects we have ever been part of.

Setter Studios was founded for projects exactly like this — work that carries spiritual weight, eternal perspective, and deep human significance beyond the film itself. This project encouraged us deeply while creating it. Again and again, we encountered stories of repentance, healing, unity, surrender, prayer, and renewed hunger for the presence of God. Long after filming wrapped, those conversations have stayed with us. We remain incredibly grateful to have played even a small role in documenting this chapter of Kingdom history.

The Process

The documentary series was built through long-form conversations with pastors, students, ministry leaders, worship leaders, theologians, and attendees who were present during the outpouring.

Rather than chasing spectacle, the filmmaking approach centered on honesty, stillness, and thoughtful reflection. What happened, not what this means….

The production combined:

  • Multi-location documentary interviews

  • Cinematic storytelling

  • Archival preservation

  • Long-form editorial development

  • Faith-centered narrative structure

Every interview carried a sense that we were helping preserve a moment that mattered deeply to many people around the world.
